I hope it is okay to post this here. Professor Simon Young is gathering self-reported accounts of experiences with fairies. We may think of "fairies" in a broad sense of any supernatural entities that seem to fit that term, rather than just winged Tinkerbelle types. This is a serious academic project, but one that respects these experiences for what they are--one of the motivations Simon expressed was to better understand part of our potential as humans that has been suppressed by mainstream culture's embrace of scientific materialism (my words). Anyway, if you have had an encounter with a being you'd describe as a fairy, it would help this project for you to report your experience here: https://www.fairyist.com/survey/

And I'd love to know more about what you think about various supernatural "entities" that those of you with "the sight" may have encountered. Fascinated as I am, I don't have much to share in this regard, since my mind tends to stay fairly busy in a way that hampers my intuition. Though I feel the presence of spirit guides, I have never seen them, nor have I heard them speak to me in a way that it clearly "not me." As I move into my crone years I may open these doors through regular practice.

I have had some experience with wood elementals and a fire elemental about 10 years ago.

Well, @herondreams

I don't think its accidental that the day you posted this, i discovered a lovely English daisies fairy ring around one of our trees outside.

Other than that, I get darting shadow shapes out of the corners of my eyes and have always assumed supernatural explanations as in other dimensions of reality.

All of my children believed in them in at least a magical imaginative way and honored their presence and now my grandchildren build fairy houses out of natural elements in hopes they might visit.

It's a lovely way to remind ourselves that our natures are all united in all forms and ways of conscious expression.

We are truly one in mind-body-spirit and that goes for all minds, forms of body or types of expression in spirit to me.

However, I often consider fairy spirits and earth spirits and earth angels to represent similar, if not the same energy.

You might be interested in a complex discussion we had on sentient consciousness known as Panpyschism a while back.

Hello herondreams!    I don't know if plant devas are considered part of the fairy world, but i was visited by the Dandelion Deva.  I was living in San Francisco, and one day i noticed a patch of plants had come up in my back yard.  I could tell they were probably dandelions, but of a type i had never seen before (there is a huge amount of genetic variation in the dandelion family).

That night, my dreams were abruptly interrupted by this dazzling, and kind of terrifying being, that explained to me that it was protector, or maybe the oversoul, of the dandelion species (can't remember the exact phrasing).   It went on to say that this was, indeed, a brand new type of dandelion, developed for this specific part of SF.  And that it was part of a very  important ecological development, and that these new plants would naturalize themselves over the entire hill on which i lived, within the year.  It also communicated that the reason it had chosen to start in my particular yard, was that i had been deemed the least likely person to just reactionarily pull them up (LOL!).

And it was true,  before long they were popping up everywhere on that hill.  In the tree wells, in the sidewalk cracks, all over.  Walking along, i would just smile and wink at them, as i climbed back up to the house.

Great story, Unk p! I'd say that fits in the realm of fairy experiences, although not everything that might be called a fairy is necessarily a plant or earth spirit.

Our entire yard is filled with a form of / or relative species of buttercups.  I have yet to find an exact picture or description of our subspecies but they are unbelievably prolific and not only spring back almost immediately after lawn and field mowings but are so entrenched by rhizones under the plants as to be almost a massive infiltration of a life form of their own.

The grass and dandelions are so competing with them over space along with big patches of clover, and other perrenial groundcovers with flowers of so many kinds,  I wish they never had to be mowed but alas seed, grass and other allergies interfere with their crazy abandon. And the grass itself gets too tall. But mine are much like yours energetically.

Devas, faeries, nature spirits and elementals are fascinating beings and all inter-connected. Love reading about them. Link at end.

Angels, earth angels, earth/nature spirits all connected versions in different form. Link at end.

My buttercups sprang up from a small patch on a neighbor/best friends of 20 year's property and were gifts and reminders and messages to me after the deaths of those friends in terrible accident  20 years ago. Just one gift of many through time with the help of birds and wind seeding.

Reading your experiences and messages you received made me laugh so hard. I guess my friends must be telling me they're still here, persevering in another form and with us no matter what. ?

Oh. Lilinoe, that's so dear of you! And I so appreciate that. I think we all have entire libraries of stories inside of us. Some of our connective and synchronistic life stories are magical, some are incredibly sad and challenging, but there's always this really, really bigger story that they're all part of.

Part of the reason we're all here (and forgive me if I get all super philosophical about it all) are to teach us and help us grow through life and we need all of the the things that happen along the way to do that.

I've had terrible, terrible things that happen (heck, some are still happening) some amazing,  unbelievably awesome,  beyond magical or even believable things happen. A lot I share here or I share the lessons and understandings of those stories and experiences. But some I don't or can't because they're not just mine to share.

You have too. I just know it. There's magic in you, in your life. That you're  here (or in other places where you feel a connection with the magic in others) then that's all part of it.

And hey, I feel that happening right now. We are all in places we need to be even if it's only for a moment, a minute, or,  a little while, or forever.

Glad you're here right now. Let all of the intuitive and magical things happen in your life too!

Hey, everyone reading here. Welcome to a magical, healing faerie ring of connections! May we all have them, continue to recognize them and begin to make all the bits and pieces of our lives just maybe begin to show us why strange things happen to all of us!

I thought you would appreciate this.

I came across a story tonight about dandelions and thought of you.  Did you know that they have many healing qualities?  Dandelions help with cancer, diabetes, skin conditions, stronger bones, lowers blood pressure and many other things.  Most of the plant can be eaten.  Additionally, during the recent Great Recession,  Greeks from villages who had no money/food began doing what their grandparents did.  They searched the forest for dandelions to eat and sell ( in addition to other forest plants) and used them to help feed their families.  So, I wonder if that might be why a new dandelion has been created, to  help heal people and provide healthy nutrition.

Thank you, Lovendures!    I knew that dandelion is very helpful for the liver, and that many folks use it for that, but i didn't know about all the other health benefits it can have.        I used to sometimes put the leaves of it in the juicer, with other vegetables.   It is also good on pizza.   You can use it like arugula, in all kinds of dishes.        San Francisco has lots of edible plants growing wild-  nasturtiums, miner's lettuce, mallows, fennel, and lots more.  Easy enough to make a whole salad.
