Thought you'd like to read this good news  about a political science professor who had incredibly accurate midterm predictions who believes that the elections will be determined not by swing voters but by bringing a whole new group of voters to the polls in 2020.  Her theory is in part the one advocated by AOC who said that she won her election by expanding her electorate.  Well Rachel Bitecofer believes 2020 will be a blue sweep because of voters coming in.

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/02/06/rachel-bitecofer-profile-election-forecasting-new-theory-108944

Bitecofer's findings fit our predictions of a blue sweep.

However we also saw disruption at the polls and so we have to be prepared to prevent this.

The GOP knows she is right and so are doing all they can to keep people from voting.   The dems need to be prepared for managing the disruption the GOP is already doing and whatever else they are planning for election day to keep people from voting and keep votes from being counted.

We also need to help people get back on the registry rolls. Where I live they have postcard parties where we send postcards hand written to people who have been thrown off the rolls and we tell them how to get back on.  Many people don't know they've been tossed off the voter registration lists.  They will unknowingly show up on election and won't be able to vote unless we help them reregister in advance.

@brightopal said we have to fight like hell.  Well what does fight like hell involve? I'm going to see about getting more post card parties.  What else are people seeing to do?

@jeanne-mayell thanks for sharing this! Encouraging young people to vote no matter who the nominee will be. It absolutely must be united, and everyone must participate, even if the ultimate nominee doesn't reflect your individual beliefs. I also believe we will have to find a way to make it easier for college students to vote - I recall some states making it ridiculously challenging. I also believe it will be about messaging (i.e. what can the dems - no matter who the nominee is - offer with regard to the issues). In other words, don't just run against Donald - get back to messaging.....

I have committed (to myself) to volunteer to help get folks, especially from marginalized communities, to the polls in November. So far I have just contacted people I know in local politics about what organizations are doing this. I'm not a registered with the Democratic Party, but I might volunteer with them if that's the best bet. (I left the DNC for the Green Party in 2000 and am now Independent.)

One of my freshman this semester has a "voting is sexy" sticker on her laptop, and I've been very encouraged by the sentiments expressed by these passionate and engaged college students. This is their first presidential election and they are not taking their power to vote for granted! The university does a great deal to support them in exercising their voting rights, and this will be easier in November 2020, since our NC congressional district has been changed to no longer split our city. Previously this divide split through one of the dorms on campus, so your congressional district depended on which side of the building you lived on!!!

I will push myself out of my comfort zone in a way I can manage (I'm VERY introverted). If we all do what ever little bit we can contribute, the building (blue) wave of energy for change will be huge. Have hope. Take action. ❤️

I like the postcard party idea! I will look in my area for one. I will also (like I did in 2018) volunteer to reach out to people to encourage them to vote. We must do all we can. I live in a GOP town in CT so I will do democratic calling.

I am very new to this forum but I am so grateful for all of you - for your visions, insights and perceptions. In the past few days however, I noticed despair creeping into some of the posts and thought it timely to share what Beto O’Rourke wrote today. He’s saying rightly we must not give in to despair nor let the darkness sweep over us. We must rouse to action and we must tear up the lies like Pelosi did.

i don’t seem to be able to add the link - so I am sharing some lines from his piece in Medium.

How many millions are so heartbroken by what has come to pass in America that they have already retreated from the world?

I refuse to be one of them. I still have faith in this country, faith that we can follow the optimism of our founders, faith that we can follow the example of El Paso… but it will take all we have from all of us who are willing to fight to save this country to make it so. And in this struggle, as Lincoln said at another defining moment in our history, "we shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth."

@pikake How wonderful of you to post this.  Thank you, and welcome to our community.  So glad to read Beto's words,  "we shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth." Those words make me feel proud to be in this country, fighting to save it.  Thank you again.

@jeanne-mayell, thank you. This is a very nurturing and inspiring place in which to hang out when we feel troubled and when we need the comfort of a sign that we are on the right path. Thank you for creating this special community. ❤️

2020 election visions:

For November, I've seen a  blue sweep in Congress and Executive branches.  This vision  could change but that's what I've seen so far.  However, in the presidential category, polls disrupted, chaos, and outcome up in the air. It is a GOP attempt to overthrow the U.S.  There is  a blue win for the executive branch but with polls disrupted and shut down in key states, it is conceivable that we'd have another Florida 2000 situation in several states that puts the outcome on hold.  I keep remember someone here seeing Elizabeth Warren's face in shock, not a good image. I also remember my Tarot reading where a woman soars to the top but then falls like a stone.  Both of these visions hint at mischief.

The other thing I've seen (back in 2018) is that due to a blue sweep in Congress, T sees that he can't stay in office in 2021 (even though he may have been able to steal the election) because he knows the Congress impeach, convict and remove him from office and prosecute him, k along with any others who have committed crimes.

Instead he would plan to step down like Nixon did and arrange in advance for his Vice President to pardon him completely, as Nixon did with Ford.  As for state prosecutions, he would try to set up something to avoid those.

All that said, I have not yet had a strong reliable vision of who will be the new president in 2021.  But I can see T's thinking and some of the GOP operatives' thinking.  They are contingency making plans, like the DOD plays war games.

This election will be a pivotal point that makes or breaks American democracy.  As @Bright Opal has posted, dems have to fight like hell.  Dems have to have nationwide protest plan set up if there is disruption at the polls where everyone goes to Washington and demands justice.

Frankly, the move that the GOP made in throwing out the witnesses in the Senate last week should have been the moment that the entire country drove to Washington and trapped them in the Capitol building. But we didn't.  They didn't 't.

@deetoo

Just throwing this out there...could it be that you don't see a "dem" in the WH because it's Bloomberg? Mike B is running as a dem, but he was a republican and an independent before.  Just wondering what you feel about that.  Thanks Deetoo!

@jeanne-mayell, Your words gave me chills.  I am attaching the latest segment of Bill Maher's "New Rules. "  In it Maher calls out Rs over their undemocratic behavior, and warns that when republics fall, they do so quietly.

@triciact, Hmm ... Bloomberg.  That's an interesting thought!  I hadn't even considered it.  I'm just seeing a shadowy figure right now.  Male energy, dark hair.

Didn't you once also mention about seeing N. Haley?  I'm thinking you and I shared posts about that, as well as maybe a few other people.  But like I said, I'm not feeling her that strongly right now.

@deetoo

Yes I mentioned Nikki Hayley before, that she was "waiting in the wings" in a sense. I feel she is looking for an opportunity to jump in somewhere, perhaps as a VP.

I know Jeanne has predicted some sort of confusion or delay  in the November 2020 election.  Something that perhaps delays the count.

I see this morning that the GOP will not allow the press at their convention meaning everything will be done behind closed doors. With the election looking more and more like a GOP wipe out and Trump losing voters by the day, will the GOP force him off for "health reasons" as a last ditch effort to hold the Senate?

Hi! Newbie/lurker here! You are all so amazing and give me great comfort during this unprecedented time. Re: USPS: Nancy Pelosi is on it!

Pelosi to Recall House for Postal Service Vote as Democrats Press for DeJoy to Testify

The House will cut short its summer recess to consider legislation that would counter changes at the Postal Service that critics say undermine casting ballots by mail.

So, these were Jeanne's visions before, posted several times but -- as I read this paragraph from her post above on 2/20 -- this was before we were shut down, before COVID was spectacularly mismanaged... And we're seeing the "mischief" already in the mail sorting machines, the mailboxes being taken away (and locked) -- Wow.  Wow.  Wow.  Goosebumps.

@dolphinspirit thank you for posting this marvelous ad for Ed Markey.  I know his Senate race up close. He is in the fight for his life because a weak politician named Joe Kennedy III is running against him in the Democratic primary September 1.

Kennedy, the grandson of Bobby Kennedy,  has better financing and the Kennedy name, but lacks the guts and leadership skills to do what is needed in today’s world.

If anyone is reading this post  from MA please get to the polls September 1 and vote in the primary for Markey.  We know Kennedy's record because he was our House of Represenatives rep.  Yes, he always votes progressively but he's a follower, not a leader, and Markey has been a leader.

Ed Markey coauthored the Green New Deal with AOC and he is a true heart warrior.  In fact, he got AOC to be on board with the Green New Deal when she was first elected.  Kennedy has done close to nothing as our congressman, just goes with the mid stream flow, no leadership but he wants a Senate seat.

I imagine T will try to upstage the democratic convention with something outrageous. Paul B said he thought it would be Nicky H. I don’t know if that will be it, although I do feel the consideration and goodness knows she is ambitious and has thrown In with T. Would she be smart enough to pass?

I expect something intense.
Soon enough though the Cohen book will be released.

Self care is essential until Biden swears in. Although I know anything can happen I am going to hold that pathway.

I flashed on a marlin being reeled in, rather than get completely exhausted in the end, he waits for the opportunity to pierce the heart of the fisherman. He fails. But believes he slips the hook.

Jeanne-Mayell this is a heartbreaking race to me, the Markey Kennedy race. In Hawaii one of our elder senators, not a particularly good one like Markey and much older than Markey was challenged. Hawaiians revere age. So he lost, and Case has had to work hard to regain his reputation. In another cycle he could have been competitive.

I only hope name recognition is not the deciding factor in Massachusetts. I love that ad. The last line was clever.
