Will Trump Morph into Full Blown Authoritarianism and fire Mueller?

The Washington Post just reported that "a friend of Trump (Christopher Ruddy, the chief executive of Newsmax Media, who was at the White House on Monday said on PBS Newshour, that Mr. Trump was 'considering, perhaps, terminating the special counsel.'”

I've been getting the feeling that the President is so desperate that he is ready to do anything to stop the investigation.  I feel he is freaking out, as well as his family and White House staff.  His M.O. is to just fire people when he doesn't like what's going on.  He thinks up excuses if he feels he needs excuses and that's what he's presently doing.

Earlier I had thought he'd try a Reischtag Fire, a state instigated emergency perhaps with a foreign government to get the attention off of him. But he now realizes nothing will stop Mueller, not even a war with North Korea.  He also ealizes that his own legal team cannot handle Mueller - -that he is completely over his head. Unless he just fires the guy.

At the moment, I feel he is concocting an explanation for the firing. He's not consulting other staff or government people but perhaps just friends from his business days. He alternates between rage and fear.

So what will happen?  Will he do it?  Would love to get your thoughts. I'll be looking at this as well in the next day or so.

And if he does it, how will Congress react?  Will Paul Ryan continue to make excuses that the President is so inexperienced that he doesn't know the difference between right and wrong?  We've seen that in the fall and winter, the Congress has to deal decide what to do with him.  More to come.

Jeanne, I had a dream this weekend, when I ask the question in my sleep when this was going to happen, it said sometime this week . There was a clash, chaos, maybe small explosive such as tear gas gun, I was too close to the sound. Unfortunately I can not remember all the details. I was in the middle of it, it was confusing and too much stuff going on at the same time. I do not know if this is going to be a actual event or I simple watch the news and grew from there. Like saying goes, "An animal is most dangerous when it is wounded".  I hope this do not happen though.

Firing Mueller is not something Trump can do. Only Rosenstein, as acting Attorney General, can fire Mueller. Today, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told the Senate Appropriations Committee that Robert Mueller "will continue to serve as special counsel overseeing a federal investigation into Russia."

Yep, Trump can fire Sessions or Rosenstein and/or Sessions could simply step down (claiming to do it for Trump's benefit re Russia), allowing Trump to appoint a new AG who could overrule Rosenstein's appointment of Mueller .

Honestly, this can go on a long time until Republicans step up and I don't think they ever will .  Trump's followers have a cult-like loyalty and Republicans won't abandon him until his followers do .

I keep thinking we've already lost our democracy and just are in denial about it .

Btw, the forum kept adding "removed link" where I placed a period .

Yes!

"The regulations governing independent investigations makes clear that the special counsel can be removed “only by the personal action of the Attorney General.” In this case, because Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from the Russia probe, the responsibility would likely fall to deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein, who Trump could order to fire Mueller. If Rosenstein refused, Trump could fire him and continue down the line until a DOJ official acquiesced."

But then he'd be just like Nixon, and we know how that ended.

My recent dreams of Trump (and they are increasing in frequency) find him a pitiful figureAnd that is my overwhelming feeling: pity. I sense he is a damned soul.

Another forum I read theorizes that he is the reincarnation of Guatemalan dictator Jorge Ubico. Look him up It's intriguing.

By the way Jeanne wonder what you feel about Kamala Harris. I am getting good vibes about her. The number 2028 is flashing in my mind.

im also getting the dastardly removed link in my posts

Your post (and your comment about having pity) reminded me of this column by Rebecca Soinit, "The Loneliness of Donald Trump".  I think that he is, indeed, a sad character. What I will never understand is why anyone thought he would make a good president. http://lithub.com/rebecca-solnit-the-loneliness-of-donald-trump/

Kim, sounds like you dreamed of the baseball attack.

It doesn't seem like it was a false flag attack, but it couldn't have come at a convenient time for Trump and the Republicans.  And I had sensed that as Trump became more desperate, there would be a false flag attack that would be blamed on liberals. I hope no more liberals get it in their heads to use violence - it hurts liberal causes.

Paul, thanks for that article.  A real find.

Jeanne, I'm not sure if was baseball attack, but then again I was suffering sensory overload with so much on the go at the same time from different direction. This dream applied for this week, so it will only apply up to Sunday.
