I thought we might need a topic on US Middle East policy,  A lot has happened in a few short days regarding the US, Iraq and Iran. The storming of the US embassy in Iraq and the killing of general Suleimani has shaken up the entire world it would appear.

After  monitoring the news this morning  I am sensing a dramatic shift has taken place.

Almost the entire coverage on news channels has  focused  on what has happened in Iran and Iraq, the killing of Suleimani, why people stormed the US Bagdad Embassy,  , the US  strategy (including if said strategy has even been thought out) and the consequences to the US and the region.  Much talk is also focusing on the dangerous ramifications for  US citizens across the world and the likely continuation of "forever wars" in the region.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time such coverage  was devoted to any issue other than Trump and American politics relating to Trump.  (Yes, this relates to Trump as his orders have set off a powder keg, but again, something huge appears to have shifted. here).  I think Pandoras Box has just swung wide open and the fear of many appears to be that there is no plan in place to deal with any ramifications of our actions.

Annalists such as Ret. 4 star General Barry McCaffery are predicting the Persian Gulf War will begin anew.

Democratic Candidates all seem to have weighed in with grave concerns over the matter.  The Gang of 8 was not briefed ahead of time. Republican leaders and Reps seem to be very supportive of the action.

European Partners were also not notified ahead of the airstrike and many were angered.

"The purpose of having allies is that we can surprise our enemies and not each other," Tom Tugendhat, the chairman of the UK Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, told the BBC.

The United States is sending nearly 3,000 additional troops to the Middle East from the 82nd Airborne Division as a precaution amid rising threats to American forces in the region, the Pentagon said on Friday.

(Reuters) - Wall Street fell from a record high on Friday after a U.S. air strike in Iraq ratcheted up tensions in the Middle East, while a bigger-than-expected contraction in the U.S. manufacturing sector again fanned fears of slowing economic growth.

Demand for safe-haven assets soared as Iran vowed revenge for the killing of Qassem Soleimani, head of its elite Quds Force, in an air strike authorized by President Donald Trump.

“The sharp escalation in tensions related to the Middle East is certainly driving the trading narrative for U.S. stocks,” said Peter Kenny, founder of Kenny’s Commentary LLC in New York.

I guess Trump needed a distraction and needed to let some friends know to short the market and get into gold and other safe havens.  Being that Eric Trump tweeted about "opening a can of whoop ass" on Dec 31, I'm guessing he gave these friends the day of Jan 2 to make their moves.

Sorry so cynical.

May our troops be safe and may our response, ( you know we will have a response) ...dang.  I don't even know what to hope our response will actually be.  I just want this stupid and dangerous pissing match war to be over.

As predicted on this site, the US will end up much weaker on the world stage. Ultimately it may be for the best.

I have a friend who's an Iran expert and he told me that idiot trump and his ilk are so ignorant they don't understand that you don't mess with an ancient culture. trump may think Iran is a shithole country, but they think (rightly) that he's a barbarian.

 Trump Twitter

All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning.

All is well and So far so good.  Perhaps you should make those statements AFTER assessments have been made

And starting your Tweet with "all is well" makes you sound like the Town Crier of Twitterland.

Here's the genius of the Iranians attacking US bases in Iraq: Under international law, we cannot fire back from those bases because they are within another sovereign nation.  Remember, the Persian Empire lasted millenia...

@laura F,  I can’t stop the thought of   Putin helping his asset stay in power by triggering a series of violent events.   I woke up with Putin in my head.  I hadn’t seen your post until after posting this.  There is more than a little evidence Putin rose from obscurity to massive popularity when four Moscow apartment buildings blew up in the early 1990’s killing hundreds of innocent people. They later found government explosives (KGB related) in the basements.  Putin is above all else a KGB guy.  His  connections with KGB have always been tight.   He’s a sociopath trained as a spy. Also around his early years another violent tragedy occurred in a school where the government killed hundreds of parents and children hostages in an absurdly clumsy attempt to end a siege. Putin blamed both tragedies on the Chechens and made himself  the hero. But a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist took a closer look at what happened in these horrific tragedies and the evidence points towards rigged false flag events.  See Mashe Gessen’s work.    Gessen and others believe that Putin is willing to murder hundreds of innocent people to gain power.

it’s not a stretch that he could have caused the storming of the  Baghdad embassy (right after or almost simultaneously when he called Trump last weekend in that secret phone call.

The  circumstances of the Baghdad protests are signature Putin.  The protesters were allowed to get past gates. They made a lot of noise then left.  Then trump killed the Iranian general.

This was followed by  Trump’s darkest loudest enablers, as if  on cue —Hannity, Haley, shouting their chorus of democrat blame and Trump heroism.

The  Iranians strike with missiles that don’t kill anyone and then the airliner blows up two days after a scheduled maintenance.

The US  news fills with  Middle East events and distraction is accomplished.

I had premonitions back in early 2017 that Trump would create a false flag event to tighten control.  I was concerned about his relationship with the mercenary Erik Prince.  Now I see trump doesn’t need Prince. He has Vladimir.

I could be wrong.  Maybe it is nothing.

You know, I have had the same feelings about all of this and was just about to make a post similar to yours, but you've stated everything so much better than I could. :P All roads lead to Putin. All of this just makes me so weary. When are we going to be rid of the chaos and darkness? I feel so helpless.

I don't think you are. Interesting tweets from Scott Stedman on Jan.4 .  Check it out... and ask yourself :

Why would Russian banking CEO, Hermann Gräf, take a Russian Air Charter, Jet-Air, from Moscow, across Europe then down the American East Coast to land in Ft Lauderdale, a mere twenty miles south of Mar a Lago, in the dead of night?

“If Russian reports are correct and this is the personal jet of Herman Gref, the CEO of Russia's biggest bank just flew into Ft. Lauderdale in the dead of night. https://t.co/3NBCoyVBJR

Sometimes I feel such a strong knowing about a thing and it would take a lot to convince me that what has happened was not Putin’s work.  So now Donald Trump has so much blood on his hands that he’s starting to look like a bloody monster. Yes it makes me feel weary too.
for days I’ve been hearing Putin plotting in my head.  I first saw him plotting back in 2015 in a vision which I posted.  The day that Wikileaks released the DNC emails, I knew it was him.

So he called Donald last weekend to tell him himself that the plan was on.  Trump knew in advance what was coming and what he was supposed to do.  But it took that phone call to let him know it was a go.

What are you guys picking up on regarding the Ukraine airline crash in Iran?  Iran will not turn over the black boxes to the US.   That actually makes some sense given the circumstances.  But Boeing is the manufacturer and it will be more complicated to solve the mystery of what happened without Boeing being involved though their integrity is in question with how they have been handling crashes of the MAX plane.

Russian involvement seems more than possible.

It was a Ukraine plane and Russia has taken out a Malaysian  plane flying out of the Ukraine  filled with passengers in the recent past.  It has added confusion  to the "war" we are fighting at a time when misses were flying and landing on US Troop from Iran,  Boeing gets another black mark for aircraft safety,

So any thoughts?  How layered is this situation?

* Edited to add that the plane flying out of the Ukraine and shoot down by Russia was a Malaysian plane, not a Ukrainian plane.

I feel certain that Putin/Russia is involved. What stands out to me is Ukraine. The plane was en route to Ukraine and there were a number of Ukrainian casualties as well as some casualties from European nations, but no US casualties. Due to the timing I was more inclined to link it to the tensions with Iran initially, but I do wonder if (due to the involvement of Ukraine) this could be linked to impeachment somehow....I'm probably thinking on this too hard. Russia and Ukraine are enemies, so who would benefit from this? Russia. The victims of this crash were mostly citizens of nations that are either enemies to Russia or not allies and some Iranian citizens (most likely casualties that Putin would probably as collateral damage if this were a direct attack). Boeing already looks bad and this could make Boeing look worse, but it would be classified as an accident. Also, the US is "conveniently" uninvolved (and not to blame- so far). I'm remembering that plane crash years ago in Ukraine, and how Russia had been implicated/responsible (I think it was around the time the annexation of Crimea was taking place). Maybe the embassy bombing and assassination was to get the US "out of the way" (Russia and Iran are allies; Russia and Ukraine are enemies). The assassination and bombing effectively caused Iraq/Iran to want US troops and influence out, so it seems convenient that Iran doesn't want US involved in the investigation (also Trump had that phone call with Putin before the embassy bombing so maybe this has all been orchestrated and all roads lead to Putin). I need to clear my mind and meditate on it- my mind is full of clutter right now.

Or that "pay off" trip by Hermann Gräf and verbal directions done so it would be much harder to trace and prove. I agree with you.. it reeks of Putin the Puppet Master.

I see Putin with his arms crossed shaking Iran’s hand with one and us hand with the other. He’s smiling very evil like with his head tipped down looking up with his eyes.
I believe he shot down the plane in agreement with Iran AND America so that whatever fake war they are making pits people against people for each country. I really feel like this is all a performance. For money. Russia has secrets so both countries play his game to gain power while he protects their shame.
When trump spoke today his face contorted and moved like that bad guy who licked his lips a lot in Harry Potter- interestingly enough, the snake or REPTILE figure I associate with Putin is popping up with trump more and more as the weeks go by. Obviously we all know they’re snakes in a mental way but I can’t seem to shake this weird “no, but they really ARE ACTUALLY REPTILES”

Last night I googled something similar for shoots and giggles, maybe just to see if I wasn’t alone? Odd amount of theories on a “reptilian race” traced back to the Sumarians....

Deep down, I truly believe these leaders are all together plotting something sinister and I can’t shake it. Money and power feel like the demise of our current situation more than ever. Scare the world population, keep them in a state of fight or flight, pit them against one another - that’s how you control the world.
