Hi, guys.   Happy "Republicans are saving Trump and ignoring the Constitution" Day!  Also, someone on the radio said it was "Squirrel Appreciation Day."  Not relevant, of course.  But a good excuse as to why the Senate has gone nutty on us.

Anyway, bad jokes aside, I actually have watched the impeachment proceedings today.  And like so many of you, I know that the Republicans will do everything possible to save Trump, including doing a mock trial.

But don't be discouraged.  Rather, rejoice!  Because it is all part of the plan.

I know some may think I am being naïve, but I truly believe that this is not an exercise in futility.  Pelosi resisted impeachment attempts until after the Ukraine scandal came out.  She knew what the set-up in the Senate was, and she knew that there was zero chance of convicting Trump.  Yet I firmly believe that this impeachment trial is nothing more than a trap for Republicans.  Seriously, Pelosi is an insider in Washington circles.  She has information that we don't.  If she wanted to, she would set events in motion to release the information and confront Trump with it.

So, why hasn't she done it?

Because she doesn't just want to take down Trump.  She is planning McConnell's demise too.

Ask any die-hard Democrat, and they will tell you that they despise McConnell for using the Senate rules for his pleasure, whether it is to keep hundreds of bills in legislation purgatory or cheating Obama of a Supreme Court seat.  Pelosi knows this, and is waiting until after the trial to release the damaging information.  That way, the American people know that the Republicans will do nothing, and their votes to acquit Trump are already on record.  The Republican party looks corrupt beyond imagining, and the independent voters and moderate Republicans will flock to the Democratic Senate candidates.

Long story short, Pelosi is trying to create a scandal by having the Republicans go through their fake trial, then wait for just the right moment to release more damaging information.  Something so catastrophic that it would upend Trump's support.  And because the Republicans have already shown themselves to be Trump's flunkies, they will pay the price, and a blue flood will sweep clean the corruption they left behind.

The question is what the evidence is.  Evidence showing that Putin is making payments to Trump?  A secret tape where Trump admits that the Biden investigation is bogus but he needs it to be re-elected?  Tax records that show that Trump is, at best, not rich and, at worst, corrupt?  Maybe even women that come forward and say that Trump forced them to have abortions? (I think something like this would be potentially fatal to Trump with regards to the evangelicals.  The evangelicals cannot fall back to their usual excuses of how Trump is God's chosen warrior if it is proven he paid for abortions.)

Final thought: I noticed that several people on this site predicted that Trump would resign due to health problems.  But are we sure that it is a health issue?  For some reason, I don't see Trump staying silent, even if he did resign.  So if he stayed silent, it would be because (1) he is physically unable to respond, like if he had a stroke, or (2) perhaps one of Trump's many enemies gave him something that physically incapacitated him (Putin comes to mind.)  I don't know why, but I think Trump really needs to fear an unseen enemy, be it a health issue or an attack by an unknown enemy.  I just have a feeling, and it is similar to what I felt after Epstein was arrested.  Any thoughts?

Anyone have any thoughts / feelings about Chief Justice Roberts? Will he silently sit by while the the Republicans make a mockery of the impeachment trial proceedings? Will he do nothing to stand up for the Constitution?

OMB just released 192 pages of heavily-redacted Ukraine-related material to American Oversight, two minutes before the midnight deadline, because Twitler's administration is the most transparent in history!

Allyn, I like what you wrote and I agree.  It is completely understandable to think that Pelosi and Schiff aren't sitting on any further evidence, but that doesn't make sense to me.  They are both very smart people and knew exactly how this Senate trial was going to go.  So I have to believe they have something up their sleeve(s).  As I've said many times, on their worst day they are a thousand times smarter than Twitler and his gang of idiots.  Wishful thinking maybe, but we'll see.

What are my thoughts? Your post caught my attention and I thank you for it. I hadn't thought about the Pelosi-taking-down-Mitch angle, but it makes sense. He has GOT to go for the sake of our country and all that is good. Some months ago I posted that I had been doing some energy work on the Evil Mitch and at the time I felt he was very firmly rooted in his power. After just a couple of days I no longer felt that way. (Of course, I'm not the only one who has been working on eroding his power.) I tried to get a sense of his fate after I read your post. I don't get anything specific, but I get the impression that "a bomb is going to go off", that he is going to go down in flames and take some others with him, too.

Ahh, there we are. Probably should have mentioned this in my earlier post, but the image I got which seemed to signify "reveal" was of a golden anvil dropping out of the sky.

I hope this is that.

I just had this thought spring into my head right now.

What if we are living in the Age of Pelosi?

I think she is inspiring countless generations of young women yet to come.  Those that haven't even been born yet.  She is inspiring our future great granddaughters.   She is doing it right now and we are living during this historical moment of time.

It is actually terrible to see the Senate destroy the US Constitution. It is humiliating to know that the world is watching us do something so anti-democratic that they can’t come up with comparisons, even to Russia in the 1930s. It is disheartening to hear that we have already laid down and accepted “a sham trial” as inevitable. We are ready now to lose everything, and no one cares.

People do care. I’m sending you light and comfort. I recognize what you are feeling and I catch myself feeling the same way at times. Take a deep breath and don’t lose hope. Things can change when you least expect it and ultimately, the truth will out.

I just finished my meditation for the day and concentrated on sending light and guidance to those who would protect our democracy. I got a short vision of a large group of people chanting outside of the White House.  (this seems to be my go to place when meditating on this subject). They were chanting “Hey hey, ho ho, now you have to go!” I saw the pres. and his people trying to leave without looking at the crowd.

I understand your despair. I feel it often, and express it often on this forum. Sometimes when I get really, really down, I try to imagine myself floating away from this period of time. I see the decades and centuries behind me, and try to take a long view of history and events. I remind myself that societies have endured terrible times, and have come through.  Germany endured Hitler, and is now a beacon in Europe. The human collective has survived so much, and we'll survive this current period of time. The Dalai Llama has a great saying, which I always forget but it goes something like: what looks like revolutionary change is what's been building quietly for a long time. So, as Baba says, change can come when you least expect it. We'll be around to see it.

@lynnventura, your words really connected to something I've been sensing this past month.  I initially was receiving messages from spirit, like "now is the time for limitless creativity" and "creative genius will emerge out of darkness and chaos."  For as scary as the world looks now, I was actually feeling excitement and hope in those messages.  Recently I've been feeling an energetic rumbling.  At first I tried to analyze it, believing it might be an earthquake or volcano.  But I don't think that's what I'm tuning into.   What keeps coming to me is the word "rebirth" and the mystery of the creative process.  We're being given a huge opportunity to let go of whatever doesn't serve us and create something wonderful.    As we let go of the old ways, more will be revealed to us.  I sense it even more when I wave at the moon.  (I often wave 'hello' at the moon.  We're buddies.)

@baba, I really like your meditation and vision.  I may borrow it!

From Heather Cox Richardson.  Two other pieces of news.

First - we were told no Americans were hurt in the airbase missile strike.  Well, that number then got upped to 11.  Now it appears there are more casualities.

"Second, do you remember the scandal about Amazon founder Jeff Bezos having an extramarital affair and going public about it after the National Enquirer tried to blackmail him about it? At the time, the National Enquirer said they had gotten the tip about the affair from Bezos’s affair partner’s brother, but his spokespeople made some cryptic comments about being hacked. The UN is going to release a report tomorrow saying that Bezos’s phone was hacked by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, MBS, during a “friendly chat” (which raises the question of what other phones might have been compromised during friendly chats). Several months later, Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi, who had been deeply critical of MBS, was murdered at MBS's command, but Trump refused to acknowledge that connection. Trump has sharply criticized Bezos, who owns the Washington Post, and Jared Kushner is friendly with MBS. How this will shake out is unclear, but my sense is that it is not going to be a little story."

I am watching the trial.  Democrats could not have chosen a better person to present than Adam Schiff.  It is a thing of beauty.  He is laying events out using calm, clear and precise language, showing excerpts of transcripts,  and video clips of Twitler.  One thing is crystal clear-any Republican senator who votes to acquit does so with absolutely no doubt that they stood in defense of a traitor.

I read that and suddenly saw Rachel Maddow saying "This has got to be the biggest news dump ever and it's not even Friday!"

I haven't yet seen Schiff's videos from today, but I've googled clips from yesterday. He's sharp, on point, and he speaks so all can understand. I know there are those who just don't want to, or who would refuse to listen. Too bad for them, Schiff was trending on Twitter today with the #AdamSchiffRocks tag.

Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, Schumer and many others know that there's more to be revealed. For all those wondering what they have up their sleeves, I'm sure there's plenty to pick from. Just don't forget that this circus trial will be over in a few weeks. This trial is scheduled for the next two weeks. Pelosi scheduled the SOTU address for the 4th, which is during the course of the trial if it takes 2 weeks. Shrewd move. You know he won't be able to stay on script and will have to comment, and he's not bright enough to not incriminate himself or others. See this morning's comments about how they didn't turn over documents to congress when he's being charged with Obstruction of Congress as a prime example. Narcissists have such a lack of self control when they wish to lash out. It's also worth noting that even if the trial ends in two weeks, and they've acquitted him, in March the SCOTUS will be hearing the case about releasing his taxes. So if they acquit, they'll look horrible when the taxes are released showing his Russian ties and other illicit dealings.

We're only on day one of the actual trial, today being the opening arguments. Yet the AP is reporting that the District of Columbia is suing the inaugural committee for abuse of funds. We haven't even gotten into the SDNY investigations yet. I'm thinking there are other shoes getting ready to drop as well.

I'm sending light, love and protection to all who are leading the charge to correct the wrongs which have been perpetrated in DC in the last number of years.

Was it me, or did Moscow Mitch look visibly shaken after Schiff finished speaking?
