I thought we could have a category about the impeachment here, leaving the unraveling thread about Trump free to focus other Trump issues.

And we're off.

Thank you for setting this up.  The three speaking republicans seem panicky and disorganized.  Others in the room are composed and mature.

Thank you for starting this Lovendures!

Am I the only one who has tears in their eyes listening to Kent and Taylor's opening statements?  I feel like the Calvary has finally arrived to save us.

Taylor's mention of his staffer coming forward to him with new information about Trump's involvement makes me think of the prediction someone made here of a new whistleblower coming forward.

A little humor for these tough times. It’s finally happening (at the house level) but his dirty dealings are going to be out for everyone to hear. No secret depositions. This is what the Republicans wanted...

Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said Trump wasn't watching the hearings, that he was in meetings. Right after she said that Trump started tweeting about the hearings. Can anyone over there at the White House tell the truth?!

My favorite moment of today was when Rep. Schiff said to Taylor (paraphrasing):

"They be lyin'. You keep doin' you tho."

Also I highly recommend following the live commentary stream from the folks at Crooked Media.

You can't promote principled anti-corruption action without pissing off corrupt people.  George Kent

I watched on MSNBC.  I loved Kent and Taylor.  Such integrity, just the facts, and wouldn't allow themselves to be played by either party.  Heartbreaking as Taylor described how Ukrainian lives were jeopardized by not receiving this promised aid from us.

The Dems did a good job.  I always love how Adam Schiff presents himself in these hearings.

On today's MSNBC coverage there was a panel consisting of Nicolle Wallace, Brian Williams, Claire McCaskill, Neal Katyal, and ... wait for it wait for it ... George Conway (Kellyanne's hubby).  I've never heard him speak until now, but I've known that he's been a never-Twitler.  He's actually shunned any TV appearances, so this surprised me.  He seemed quite unassuming.

Although they are on opposite sides politically, back in September Conway and Katyal co-wrote an editorial piece in the Wash. Post supporting T's impeachment.   On this morning's broadcast Conway was visibly upset with the Rep party.  Said that if you had told him 3 years ago that the Rep party would have sold itself out like this, he would have never believed you.

The George and Kellyanne marriage ... I can't figure that one out.

My favorite was when Gym Jordon wanted the “whistleblower who started all this” to come forward and testify and Rep. Peter Welch responded to Jordan, "I'd be glad to have the person who started it all come in and testify. President Trump is welcome to take a seat right there!"

Gym Jordon’s ignorance was only surpassed by his rudeness!

@lenor

That was the best ?

I noticed that Fox did not show the impeachment hearing.

@Jessi1978

They did show it on Fox News. BUT they cut to commercial whenever Schiff was making a point that was meant to rein in the clowns.

@laura-f

I was wondering. I know at 3pm CBS was showing the impeachment (I record Dr Phil) and I also record the people’s court and I could not watch dr Phil but the people court recorded. I found it jus strange.

@echec_et_maths, I'd love it if Kellyanne was the Anonymous source or was helping in some way, but I have my doubts.  That's not based on any intuitive/psychic sense; I just don't trust her.

I've read that Kellyanne used to say off-record what she really felt about T. -- not flattering -- when T. was running.  And that she wasn't expecting T. to win.  But who know.  I've read  that years ago both she and George went after the Clintons.  I believe George was instrumental in helping to bring the Lewinsky scandal to light.

People marry or partner up for myriad reasons. Their union is just a head-scratcher to me.

My take on Kellyanne is she is totally for hire.  She says whatever she is paid big bucks to say.  No scruples, no conscience, no morals.  Just SHOW MW THEMONEY!

Here is a take on how the conservative media covered the impeachment proceedings on Wednesday.

Thats their best move. They cant argue the facts, or witness credibility. Theyre not being allowed to turn it into a spectacle. The only move left is to make it out to be so boring that they essentially con people into not watching it and keep the same storyline they had last week.

I feel the same way about George. They are probably planning to have an opinion television program together following this presidency to argue their phony political points of view. As far as I’m concerned they are both deceptive. Ambition and money! Yuck!

Same for Haley. Becomes the GOP front runner a couple of days before the televised hearings, so if Trump is impeached she slides right in there and attempts to keep both the trump supporters and gain outside support from moderates and conservatives. If he is not impeached, chance of VP slot and/or run in 2024. Ambition and power! She’s slick. Hope the whole plan blows up in her face.
