The Boy Scouts of America has filed for bankruptcy, according to a court document filed in Delaware bankruptcy court early Tuesday.
The youth organization, which celebrated its 110th anniversary February 8, listed liabilities of between $100 million and $500 million, but $50,000 or less in assets.
The bankruptcy filing comes at a time when the organization faces hundreds of sexual abuse lawsuits, thousands of alleged abuse victims and dwindling membership numbers. As a result of the filing, all civil litigation against the organization is suspended.

Such a sad and horrible chapter in our history. Â My husband was a Boy Scout and loved it. Â Not everyone was so fortunate.

I cant have sympathy for an organization forced to file bankruptcy to cover legal fees from child abuse suits, all while ostracizing numerous kids over the years for being different. Before the 1970s, BSA did a lot of good, but since then, they have become just another a politicized arm of the Christian church conglomerate, using children as their cover.Â
Just in case someone is not aware, Girl Scouts is not affiliated with Boy Scouts of America and is completely inclusive as an organization. Sadly, they get a bad rap from people who aren't aware of the difference.Â
