There are moments when I feel to remain silent regarding a Trump action is liken to being complicit with his crime.
And so I wrote this on my social media account today.
As a mother of a child who suffered a traumatic brain injury, I find I must speak out and support our 34 US troops who have suffered with concussions and traumatic brain injury following the Iranian missile attack.
Mr. President , it is inexcusable to state our service members are simply suffering from "headaches".
I don't like conflict.
Being passive is ok until it isn't. Being passive about this issue would negate everything my daughter went through to overcome and recover from the challenges she faced after her life altering concussion at the age of 15. Those service members have worried parents and I hold those parents and their brave children in my heart.
I so feel you on this!!! My son had TBI from an automobile wreck at 17 years old...it totally changed our lives and his future. He is now 32 and is just now "coming out of the dark" to a "normal life". To hear IMPOTUS so dismissively describe it as "just a headache - nothing serious - not like losing arms or legs etc" was horrifying to me. To so callously disregard any form of sensitivity or regret of the injuries HE caused with his ill advised actions solely for the purpose of distraction from the Impeachment proceedings. SMH ... I have no words to describe how sick and despairing it made me feel. I pray with all my heart that America's eyes be opened to the harm this POS and his minions are raining down on us...and that we the people prevail before the harm can not be reversed. As I was driving home from the clinic after work I was praying for a sign and asking for Peace and Support. When I pulled in my yard... I saw several of my daffodils .. have bloomed.. about 4 weeks early. I gave thanks and I give thanks for this forum and safe place/haven to come and renew and be encouraged.

I can't believe the nerve of Bolton. Furious that there was a leak -- likely from someone who wants the truth to come out -- but unwilling to just tell the truth unless he's paid for it. He doesn't need a subpoena to release information that'll already been OK'd to out in a book. If the republicans won't agree to witnesses in the trial, then go to a mic and tell your story. Or send the house dems a sworn statement. Sheesh, it's all money with these people. They're like zombies, animated but without a soul.

He is speaking, not just for himself, but for many other senators who are afraid to speak up. The outcome is still a cliff hanger, but look what you've been seeing:

I just got chills upon chills while reading this. I urge everyone to call your Senator and state : Please vote to allow additional witnesses and evidence in President Trump's impeachment trial. That's the only way the Senate can live up to its constitutional duty to hold a fair trial. We, your constituents, are watching and we vote. We deserve to hear all of the evidence. Honor your oath to us.
And even if you know how your Senators will vote, contact them anyway. They need your support, and your light energy will carry them through.
When I first posted to Jeanne's forum, I shared my vision that the GOP would break apart. I saw that principled conservatives ("Never Trumpers" has become an unfortunate moniker, but nevertheless...), many independents, and a large number of Blue Dog Dems would come together to create a new party. The progressive left would mark themselves as another, and the far right "Base" would attempt to establish a third. (As for Libertarians? I see many absorbed by both the far right and center, but don't know that they'll be able to unify around a mission clearly enough to establish a rival coalition for a while longer at least. Who knows.)
I'm far from the only psychic who's predicted the unraveling of the GOP, and we're among countless politicos and pundits who've seen the same. Hell, Lindsey Graham himself predicted it. What's more, he declared that if Republicans chose Trump as their nominee, their party would deserve to be destroyed. He wasn't wrong on that point, at least.
Today, #ILefttheGOP has been number one trending on Twitter (rivaling #BoltonMustTestify), with thousands of former Republicans telling their stories. Its memetic momentum probably has more potential to shift the outcome in November than any single piece of evidence, no matter how devastating or indisputable. That's because people, generally speaking, don't make rational, logical, empirically-based choices. People desperately need to feel the safety that comes from belonging, which means they (we) can be easily persuaded by group trends. As a species, we're highly susceptible to group think.
And THIS is how Russia and our own neo-reactionary/Dark Enlightenment power mongers (Steve Bannon and Robert Mercer founded Cambridge Analytica for cryin' out loud!) flipped an American election.
So this, imho, is the best dang thing to happen yet.

I don't think that Bolton is being entirely honest with his "angry" reaction. Yes, he may be a bit irritated that parts of his book have come out before it was published. However, I think this anger is an act.
Think about it. Bolton did not leave Trump on the best of terms. Bolton is basically a power mad war monger who has been kicked to the curve because he couldn't control Trump. Now, most Republicans who have been betrayed this way either just silent fade into the background or come back to lick Trump boots. And yet Bolton said a few weeks ago that if subpoenaed, he would testify.
Obviously, this promise to testify is self-serving. We must remember that he has been implicated in a conspiracy involving the jeopardizing of our national security. So he makes a vague promise that "if subpoenaed," he would testify. While some on this forum believed it was nothing more than him covering himself, I am of a different view.
I believe that Bolton secretly wanted parts of the book to be released. First of all, it gets him publicity (people will want to read the book to see what else Bolton has to say about Trump). Second, he is advertising to the Democrats and the authorities that he knows a lot of information and is willing to testify so long as he is granted immunity. Third, he is getting revenge against Trump, but in such a way that Trump and his minions cannot launch their usual "let's tweet and get our followers to take him out" approach.
By feigning ignorance, Bolton is saying to the Republicans. "Hey, don't be mad at me conservatives! I am not part of the 'Never Trumpers.' Besides, my book was stolen! I am the one being hurt here!" However, he is also (silently) saying to the Democrats. "Look, I can't afford to look like I am eager to cooperate with you, or Trump will try to destroy me. But I know a lot of things. What can you offer me in return?"
In short, I feel that Bolton is the one behind the leak. And I suspect that there is more to come.
@allyn, I tend to agree. I haven't had the chance to post in the last few days, but I feel Bolton is in some ways behind the leaks. Whether that's putting a bug in someone's ear or doing it himself, and trying to maintain that he's not the leak. While the WH claims they haven't seen the manuscript, there's a letter to the administration stating that the manuscript is being sent for security reviews. To think that it didn't get past the NSC and into the administration is ludicrous.
Think about it, on December 30 the manuscript lands in the administration's hands and within a matter of days/hours the attack on Soleimani takes place? Bolton had long been itching to go to war with Iran and take out Soleimani. Besides Rumplethinskin craving the moment to be able to order a hit for the power rush, the vindictiveness of his personality who would want to silence someone who used to make fun of him, the timing also says to me that he wanted to show that he'd try to finally appease Bolton by doing something Bolton had been looking for. The trial was going to be fast tracked, and there would be no witnesses. Bolton would look horrible if the book came out after an acquittal when he had the goods to possibly change that verdict. Bolton was playing the game that he had info, but wouldn't put himself on the line to produce it. He was going to cover his backside first, and let the chips fall where they may. Now, with the leaks, he's garnered interest in his book, and has Republican Senators coming out saying they would like to hear what he has to say. It was in Bolton's best interests that bombshells leak. Today's leak says Bolton claims he was afraid that Rumpus was doing favors for autocratic leaders like those in Turkey and China. I don't admire Bolton or his method here, but I do hope that he (or others) continue to leak info that will turn the tides on votes about witnesses and acquittal.
As for writing or calling your senators, I had emailed both mine last week about witnesses. Burr never answered-which is par for the course. I got an email full of WH talking points back from Tillis. I fired back, debunking the misinformation he was shoveling, calling him out on the double standards and double speak he was employing, and telling him not to respond further as I was amazed that he was either that ill informed or he was willing to try and gaslight constituents. Told him I would be looking for a candidate this year who had integrity, morals, and who understood the issues, and obviously I'd have to look at whomever will be running against him as he'd just proven he wasn't what I'm looking for.
I have written to my senators (Georgia) and only gotten pro Trump talking points back from one and nothing from the new senator who has very clearly and firmly attached herself to Trump. She was appointed at the beginning of the year by the governor as Johnny Isaakson was retiring for health reasons. I saw today that she will be challenged by none other than Doug Collins (the shouting embarrassment from the R’s during the house hearings). That will be ugly. I won’t be voting for any of them. They are an embarrassment and if they are with the corrupt president, I have no interest in anything they have to say.
I am guessing that someone aligned with Bolton who still works in the WH is leaking things. That being said, this administration has been one of the leakiest in memory. They are all so at odds with each other that they try to one up each other by selectively releasing info.
I had an interesting result today when I meditated to send light to those who are trying to protect democracy, heal the country and bring people back together. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a timeframe for it, just a glimpse of a sudden and unexpected change:

Something unexpected happens with Fox News. Maybe a scandal? It exposes wrongdoing and deception on their part. This leads a large group of their viewers to start paying attention to other forms of news. The anger towards them is great but it ultimately starts the healing process amongst the people.
Last night on Rachel Maddow a NYT reporter stated that when the Bolton book came to the WH for a review (only 1 copy) that MANY copies of the book were made and shared among various agencies. She also said that someone from the NSC leaked the Ukraine specific pages. Also, Bolton said that “it takes 2 hours everyday to do IQ45’s make up and hair to make him look human.”

You may well be right, Allyn. I distrust Bolton implicitly; the man was born with an agenda.
I do want to say one thing on the point of manuscript leaks, however. It isn't simply that Bolton has chosen to forgo early release of the manuscript (publishing schedules are tighter than a drum and nearly impossible to alter this far in), or that he's holding back his testimony "just to make money off the book," which I keep hearing in the media. Yes, he wants to make money off the book, but also: he must.
When Bolton proposed the book, which would have been many months ago, he entered a legal contract with Simon & Schuster. As a business, they must make back every penny of that princely advance we all keep hearing about, on top of everything else they've invested in the book in terms of management, ghostwriting, editing, graphics, marketing support, printing, and so on.
If Bolton leaked his own manuscript to the press, he'd be in direct violation of that contract and its terms would be forfeit. He'd owe back the full advance and likely then some. He would have needed approvals to send it to the White House (likely S&S sent it), and a CNA would have been issued beforehand.
I can't imagine a scenario in which Simon & Schuster agreed to allow Bolton, or anyone else, to release the manuscript. Leaks are a much bigger liability to sales than any potential boost the buzz might create. Leaks can't be controlled, and publishing as an industry is already in rough shape due in no small part to rampant digital file sharing.
