Beautiful stories are emerging during this international Covid-19 crisis. Let's share these inspiring stories in their one space so they can be easily found.  They will bring us hope and joy. Let's share the light.

Here is part of email from McAlister's Deli in the Illinois region.

Dear friends,
As we all know, Illinois has closed schools temporarily in an attempt to control the spread of COVID 19. We believe this is the right decision, but also understand that it may present challenges to families in the communities we serve. We'd like to help.

If you are concerned about ensuring your children have a hearty lunch, stop by McAlister's Deli from 11am - 1pm, Monday through Friday. Every kid can receive a free sack lunch that contains a turkey and cheese sandwich, chips, applesauce and a cookie. Completely free, no other purchase is necessary.

We want to do our part to make sure our friends get through this challenging time. So take this worry off your plate, and put it on ours. We will get through it. Together.

.

Here is a link from Time of some of the different singing by quarantined people in Italy.

I found the lyrics that they were singing in Siena!!

Canto della Verbena
Nella Piazza del Campo
Ci nasce la verbena
Viva la nostra Siena...
La più bella delle città

(I sing of verbena, in the Plaza of the Fields, the verbena will sprout, long live our Siena, most beautiful city)

Free online learning help for kids from Scholastic.  What a great resource for those of you with children. They are sorted by appropriate grade levels.

Even when schools are closed, you can keep the learning going with these special cross-curricular journeys. Every day includes four separate learning experiences, each built around a thrilling, meaningful story or video. Kids can do them on their own, with their families, or with their teachers. Just find your grade level and let the learning begin!

I am so inspired!  SO much light and good is now emerging with how humanity is dealing with this virus.  Keep looking for the light.  It is there.  It is spreading.  It is growing and it is beautiful!

My daughter and her boyfriend (the ones in the computer) have started having virtual dinner dates with other couples. They're in lock-down in NYC.

Has anyone seen the news stories about people around the globe putting up their Christmas lights/outdoor lights to send a message of cheer and hope and solidarity?  It's really catching on. What a great idea!

@polarberry

I have a back deck arbor lit up and two shrubs and a front porch light on all night long. Not sure if anyone would see me from space but I love the idea.

Our big tree, aka Godzilla the Ficus has lights on her all year. And yes you can see her from space.

Everything fell into place just right in my immediate family in terms of quarantining. Yesterday, I drove down to Connecticut to hunker with my parents, and I feel much more relaxed now than I did when I was alone with my thoughts in my studio apartment. My older brother, who lives in NYC, had been snowboarding with some buddies since last Thursday in Wyoming (they weren't taking advantage of rock-bottom airline tickets; the trip had been planned for several months). Yesterday, rather than fly back to NY (which will probably be locked down like the Bay Area), he rented a car and drove to Salt Lake City to stay with my twin brother for the next few weeks; he had foresight and packed his work computer and extra clothes before heading west. So we all have the company of another family member even if we're not under the same roof. That makes me feel lighter.
