I read that too that the virus had originated in Europe and had been in NY since mid February.
I am in NY and the article caught my attention because my 6 yr old was sick during mid February. He was sick for 2 weeks. It was odd since he got sick all of a sudden and got a little better and then got sick again.

Time for a little Randy Rainbow:
I'm sorry to hear about your little one.

Ideas:
The local IGA market near me in CT is now using a device to take everyone's temperature who comes into the market. There are red tape marks on the floor to also make sure anyone going to a register or shopping for produce, deli, etc. must stand 6 ft. away from one another. The checkers have plexiglass separating themselves from the customers. You must wear a mask, the counters are wiped down after every customer by the bagger too. Only certain amounts of people can shop at one time in the store.
When we are no longer in lock down, I think that doing some of these things should STAY in place. I think the temperature device and the plexiglass should stay. My husband and I were literally sneezed on by a 10 year old girl and her mother a year ago when we were shopping in TJMaxx. We were pissed because we heard the mother admit her child had the flu!! We ended up with said flu too! People like that are being very selfish and stupid to even go shopping when they are still sick, let alone taking a sick child to a store.
Because people can't be totally trusted then stores need to take measures like temperature and cleaning more as part of their future practices. We're thinking that all places that have many people congregate at one time should do this. Movie Theaters, concerts, office buildings, restaurants, schools, Wedding/party venues, TSA security checkpoints, etc. should do this. I think that unless businesses do these things people are going to be too scared to be in a large crowd for a very very long time.
Our local Whole Foods and Fresh Market stores have instituted many of the same precautions, excluding taking people's temperatures. I agree that many of these precautions need to stay in place. Unfortunately you really can't trust people, even with this pandemic. It only takes one. Yesterday I saw two people enter one of the stores without a mask, and it pissed me off. I was almost tempted to say something. I chose to stay clear of those individuals.
Even after this presumably passes, I'm probably going to avoid movie theaters, concerts and other large venues. As a senior with some health issues, it's the wise thing to do. With restaurants -- it depends. Maybe if the restaurant is small, or the weather is good and they offer outside dining.
The following are the items with the biggest increase in sales compared to a year ago. They are listed for the past five weeks. How does it aline with your purchases and what you noticed in stores?
Pandemic Shopping Patterns
Week One - Hand Sanitizer and cleaning supplies
Week Two- TP and paper products
Week Three- Baking Yeast and Spiral Ham
Week Four- Once again, Baking Yeast and Spiral Ham
Week Five- Hair Cippers and Hair Color
Any guesses on what week 6 will bring?

Mulch, potting soil, plant deliveries?
I'll be needing the hair clippers/scissors. I also need video instruction on how to cut my husband's hair. As for myself -- I'll cut it the best I can or pull it up in a barrette.
My daughter who lives in NJ said you will not be allowed in a store without a mask. She went to Sams Club on Wednesday and she said a man in line was told he could not go in without a mask and was asked to leave.
I went to my eye doctor on Wednesday here in Virginia and was one of three patients. I have macular degeneration and needed to go. When I got there, one of the nurses told me 4 of the 5 offices were closed and only the 2 retina specialist were working.
Here I noticed about most people are wearing masks, even young ones.
@lenor, I think not allowing people in stores without a mask is really smart. I doubt they would do it in Virginia, do you? I live in Northern VA and fortunately do see most people wearing masks.
I'm glad you were able to see your eye doctor. My husband goes to his allergist for regular shots. He calls before he drives over there. Once he arrives he calls from the parking lot before he comes up to the office. After he receives his shot, they ask that he immediately go out to his car and stay there for 15 minutes, just to be sure he doesn't have any reaction (standard protocol with allergy shots).
What I have a hard time finding since week 3 are: pasta, rice, canned soups, canned beans, tomato sauce.
I'm just back from a 3 block walk to Walgreens to pick up my monthly prescription refills (insurance won't pay for refills of more than 30 days at a time). Took the doggies with for a leg stretch, and hubby came too. In the Walgreens they're doing everything possible except take temperatures of patrons. Unfortunately both in the store and outside on the sidewalks, we're still at less than 50% compliance with masks. And the police do nothing. So I've started pretending I'm texting but using my phone to take pics of people at a distance, but close enough so you can see no mask. I plan to send them to my state assemblyman and post on NextDoor.com. I'm so sick of these selfish people.
@lovendures so interesting! Spiral ham - that is coming from a part of America where I do not live.
My daughter just messaged me about this therapy that has been approved by the FDA and will start using it in NJ.

I hope t see in the near future when this administration is sued for their failure to respond to this pandemic and letting American die.
A tarot reader I subscribe to said that May 10 Mother's Day will be significant. What can we expect in early May, such as states relaxing their shutdown restrictions?
I found out from my college that I can have my cap and gown shipped, but nothing concerning yearbooks or the commencement that is scheduled for June 8.

LA times said that they believe the Virus was circulated as early as December.
Smith on Friday said data collected by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, local health departments and others suggest it was “a lot longer than we first believed” — most likely since “back in December.”
“This wasn’t recognized because we were having a severe flu season,” Smith said in an interview. “Symptoms are very much like the flu. If you got a mild case of COVID, you didn’t really notice. You didn’t even go to the doctor. The doctor maybe didn’t even do it because they presumed it was the flu.”
Traded personal readings with my close friend today. He's a powerful professional psychic. We've been trading for over 10 years. Extremely accurate. We discussed Coronavirus.
1.) We both felt a treatment would be announced in the near future.
2.) Vaccine will not take as long as they have suggested.
3.) In early to mid May, the virus would really go down.
4.) About a 30 day window until things really calm down.
Neither of us are buying the doom and gloom and fear.
I'm just sharing our perceptions.
Hope this helps.
