@laynara I feel for you.  I struggle with anxiety and have to talk myself through.  I’ve had to try really hard to make those thoughts and feelings fade so I can live my life.  If not everyone would be bubble-wrapped and planted firmly where I can watch them.    I know those things aren’t realistic.   I know that worrying about those things won’t stop them from happening nor will it make them happen.  I have surrendered my thoughts to God and ask for him to quiet the noise in my head.  Then I think about my prayer floating up to heaven where my angels help me move on.   I feel your worry.  I will say a prayer for you that your thoughts be as clear and free as a blue sky.  This is hard.   The virus isn’t the only thing making people sick.  The mental health aspect will probably be a factor in our recovery too.   So for today let’s be grateful for the morning, the birds in the trees, the blue sky, the love of our family and friends who hold us dear to them and all the blessings we can be grateful for.   We have so many.  This group, this place of peace is huge for me.  So, just for today let’s just be.  Tomorrow will take care of itself.  Peace my dear.   Without that we have nothing.  ❤️

Hi all... prayers every time I wash my hands.. for all of us here, our families,friends and countrymen...I meditated with last nights full moon too - even tho it was cloudy here and did not see it. Yesterday...the anniversary of my dad's passing.... 16 years he has gone.. he was my rock, the rock of my family which has since fallen apart... he was the glue that held us together without him .. we fell in to total dysfunction and greed by some siblings to take everything from the other siblings...a long story... I have removed myself from it as it was soul destroying and I have seen it destroy their family/lives as well. I made a dinner he loved and sat and ate it ..giving thanks for what I have learned and grown from all the years that preceded this date. I felt his presence there...calm, reassuring and happy that I remembered him and celebrated his life. One of my favorite songwriters and musicians passed yesterday as well... John Prine... I thank you for sharing your Gift with us all these years... I am ok? Just full of a great sadness...melancholy day for me...even as I take time to note the ordinary miracles in my every day life. Blessings, Light,Love and Joy

@deetoo

Thank you for your kindness and thoughts during last night's meditation. (And to everyone else, too!)

I wasn't able to join via zoom but I tried to meditate at 9 and sent healing light to everyone in this community and to everyone across the world.

I wasn't able to steady my thoughts for too long -- especially considering my kids were still awake in the other room as we are all sleeping downstairs -- but hopefully I was able to make a small contribution, however minimal. I did feel as though I "joined" although the sensation lasted all too briefly.

@sistermoon, thank you for sharing and participating.  Just so you know -- when we do the monthly full moon meditation, it's not through Zoom.  We just do it on our own, on that day and around that time -- although, since time is non-linear, you can do it whenever you are able.  It's the power of our group intention and collective prayer that matters.

Michele-b has posted a list of the dates for these meditations under the 2020 Monthly Full Moon... thread.   It’s inside her 3/6/20 post.

How is your husband doing?

Oh and here I thought it was on zoom! I swear I'm not usually so confused ? I will check out that thread and make note of future dates. Last night snuck up on me for sure.

Husband is unchanged, but as long as he doesn't worsen, this isn't the end of the world. (Easy for me to say, I'm sure.) For him, the body aches and headache are the worst part. As of now, his lungs remain clear, so I'm praying he stays that way.

I had a bit of a panic last night when I began to feel like I was coming down with it too. (You know, that "pre-sick" feeling you get when you feel like something is coming on?) In retrospect, it was probably a combination of stress and exhaustion. I just began to panic we would both be sick at the same time and leave the kids to fend for themselves. I'm lucky they aren't any younger though, since at 6 and 8 they can at least occupy themselves and get something to eat.

At any rate, thanks for checking in. One day at a time, and all that :)

@runestoneone

RUNESTONEONE OMG I hadn't realized you were back! We've missed you. ?

I'm running a little low on steam tonight, but this was excellent info. Thank you. And so very happy to realize it was from you. I very much hope you'll stay a minute.

@MAS1581 Totally understood.

@laynara It looks like you've gotten some good encouragement already, so I just want to let you know I'm sending my love to you and your little boy. These times are difficult indeed—all the more so for those of us who suffered early and often. It feels like you have some beautiful guides nearby. Lean into their light, dear one. ?

@vestralux Happy to dip in and out. Got a LOT on my plate, so can't be a regular contributor, but will when I can. Thanks for the kind thoughts!  And I'm glad you're doing better! -R-

@sistermoon, the Wednesday night meditations are on Zoom.  It can be confusing.

For those times when we had a difficult day, (or moment of a day, or a few days, or heck, a whole week) remember this is totally understandable.  We are fearful of lots of things that are no longer in our control.  We are grieving losses in every aspect of our lives and have had to adapt to tons of changes in order to do even the most basic of living tasks like eating and taking simple hygiene measures.

In writing this post I am reminded of something I believe I have heard Oprah say. ( I hear her saying the words in my head so it must be her ha ha).

I Get To...

If I focus on the "I GET TO" things in life it softens the impact of all the "I don't get to" things.

Here are 3 different "I get to" things I actually thought about today.

"I get to meditate with our community on Zoom ".

"I get to make vegetable soup from scratch with fresh vegetables".

"I get to start making my house ready for Easter"

May you all be surprised at how many  "I get to" things you find yourself thinking about tomorrow.

@lovendures,

Thank you for suggesting that we focus on our “I Get To’s …”.   It is too easy to find yourself focusing on what you lack or cannot do right now.   To put it another way, what we focus on grows.   There are always blessings to be found, if we only remain open to them.

Also, I was delightfully surprised when you shared your sweet dog with us at last night's meditation.  What a cutie pie!  You can’t help but smile and feel lighter when you see him (or is it her?).  I could swear I saw angel wings on that furry pooch.

@vestralux and @sistermoon,

I'd also be interested in reading McTaggert's book.  I've always believed in the power of harnessed group energy and prayer.

Lots of love, you guys.  ?

Looking at life by what you get to do is refreshing and can change your frame of mind for sure. What we focus upon does in fact grow, excellent point.

I am so happy you liked seeing our sweet boy Caspian.  He is such a blessing and I loved hearing you think you saw angel wings on him.  He makes even none dog lovers smile.  He has everyone at our vet office wrapped around his finger (paw) too.  He makes people feel loved and will greet you as if a best friend has come to visit.  He is super smart so we are constantly having to out-think him.  He is a real live stuffed animal packed with personality.

I think the "I Get To..." idea is wonderful! Here we go:

I GET TO:

  • Cuddle with my dogs and cat
  • Sleep as late as I want to
  • Go to bed as late as I want to
  • Take my time cooking and baking to make really great meals
  • Read a book uninterrupted
  • Read said book outside in the sun or under the shade of a tree (weather permitting)
  • Take a nap - indoors or out
  • Take a long drive to the desert and back
  • Bring along an eat-in-the-car lunch on that ride/eat it somewhere scenic
  • Have long phone calls with old friends with no sense of urgency
  • Have my hubby complete our Honey-Do list
  • Watch trash TV unapologetically
  • Catch up on my own minor household chores
  • Take online dance classes from some of the best teachers in the world
  • Eat cake for breakfast
  • Barter with neighbors and chat with them at a distance
  • Play music with my husband on our back deck and serenade the neighborhood (weather permitting)
  • Have a weekly family meal with our daughter and her BF out on our deck, far apart
  • Get to enjoy my husband's sense of humor in person
  • Ride my bike (weather permitting)

My "get to's "

Today "I got" to celebrate my husband for learning from a Walgreens employee that a shipment of paper products was arriving today.  He was third in line an hour before they opened and scored a package  of 12 rolls of tp and  a 6 pack of paper towels.  Oh, there was some chocolate involved in the trip too.

I "got to" celebrate doing laundry by having clean clothes to wear and clean towels to use again.  I love clean laundry.

"I got" to eat take out from one of my favorite restaurants yesterday.  We had a picnic in our backyard. Every morsel was appreciated.

"I got" to take my dog on a long walk yesterday near sunset time.  The light was perfect and he really enjoyed himself.  He didn't want to go home.  We even spotted some ducks on the water.

"I got" to garden and pulled a bags worth of weeds out of my front yard.  Now I will plant the last container of flowers out front.  "I got"  to beautiful the place I live.

I "get to" spend some nice time outside today enjoying the birds, trees and flowers.

I am noticing that by focusing on the "get to's" today, it makes me happy and joyful.

Hey everyone, I have been focusing more on the now and spending time with my little family. Its just sometimes hard not to worry and feel like we wont make it to see this world become something greater. I have cried holding my son numerous times because he is such a smart and kind soul that loves the outdoors and people. My mind likes to wonder and think will we still be here after all this change is over. I try to hush those thoughts by keeping myself busy,but sometimes it overwhelms me with so many mixed emotions my heart hurts. Thank you all for being he and so supportive I truly appreciate it. ?

@runestoneone

Love your got-tos, but I have to ask:

What in the name of Thor are Rumbledethumps and why/how are your vegetarian???

If there's a recipe - I'll bump up the recipes thread I started a while back - please put it there, thanks!

@laura-f Am not a Veg, but my partner is, so I make Veg stuff sometimes. Me, I'm a carnivore.

Rumbledethumps are the Scots name for Colcannon. I make it with potatoes & tofutti sour cream (I'm lactose intolerant), Fakin' Bacon (bacon flavored tempeh), and kale, rather than the cabbage I can't digest. Honestly, I don't use a recipe.

Mash 5 medium red potatoes with butter & tofutti sour cream. Fry 1 package Fakin' Bacon in some olive oil, dice up when brown, set aside. De-rib & cook one bundle of kale in the Bacon pan until limp. Combine everything, salt & pepper to taste. It's good with some garlic salt. Serve in a bowl, add a lump of butter in the middle of the bowl.

Yuuuuuuum.Even if it's a bit of a far cry from the original recipe.

Today I feel refreshed I slept for 16hrs. It felt as if my spiritual battery was almost on empty. I am outside right now listening to the birds chirp and the wind is softly blowing I can smell the blooming flowers. My son has been enjoying just running. You dont release the beauty of the world until you just slow down and take a deep breath
