As many of you may know, I live with chronic recurent severe depression.  I refuse to let this bring me down.  So I keep working on myself when I am in a good place to help me when I am having a depression.

I've heard, read, etc somewhere about learning the tarot by studying each cards and review your life experiences based on the specific card.  It certainly does help having a good understanding of the card, although I still use my instinct when doing my readings.

But here is the thing, it's helping me tremendously.  It is like doing a puzzle.  Each experiences lived and remembered on their own, may or may not have an impact on you.  However, when studying a card, I bring all those little pieces and I get to see a picture of myself I couldn't see before.

With a brid's eye view, I understand the influences of everything on my life.  I am gaining a better insight I never really realized was there.  It's bringing me to the next level.  My self confidence is gradualy improving, I get to understand my reactions better, understand others and their reactions better.

In my diary, I called this process "Mindful Tarot".  It is very difficult sometimes.  I have had to face some truth I didn't really want to see, admit things I never really wanted to admit to myself.  But it is so worth it.

So, to me, the tarot is not only a card game, it is not only a tool for divination.  It is also a tool for self improvement, to bring me into living a more mindful life.

Oh Bright Opal!

Your strong light is indeed shining bright! I am moved so deeply by your words and by the enormous strength that is surging into being now.

I am so thrilled that these connections have been made and an understanding and awareness into your very own psyche and how life and your reactions to it are now beginning to coalesce into healing.

And the magic of the energies of divination and a unique form of divine grace have opened you like this with such power is awesome.

You are in my thoughts, my heart and in my most fervent prayers. For in my heart of hears I sense that your connections will also connect those the rest of us love who have also suffered from depression.

May our prayers, our healing, loving and caring energies be sent out to you and to all who suffer.

We love you brave heart and bright jewel. And I grateful and blessed to know you, and be with you and others in service to others here!

Posted by: @bright-opal  It is like doing a puzzle.  Each experiences lived and remembered on their own, may or may not have an impact on you.  However, when studying a card, I bring all those little pieces and I get to see a picture of myself I couldn't see before.

A student in my Intuitive Way IV class who is trying to learn the Tarot expressed frustration today about learning the cards. "I love the images but I can't read them," she said.  To answer her I thought about how I had learned the cards and even though I hadn't read @bright-opal's beautiful words yet, I told her that one reason I got into reading people's cards was that it was like solving a puzzle.  And who doesn't love puzzles?  So I love what you wrote here, making it like a challenge, a game, a puzzle to work out.

And this puzzle is your amazing and often inscrutable psyche.  We are sending rockets into outer space and we are diving into the depths of the oceans, yet we have this incredible mystery right here in our own heads!   The human psyche is deep and vast and one of the greatest wonders of the world.

So thank you, dear friend, for posting your insightful observation.  Yes, you are bringing all those little pieces together to see a picture of yourself.

Also it takes so much courage to do that work.  And you are doing it.

Oh Bright Opal, you are our bright jewel.  How wonderful that you are using the Tarot to heal and understand yourself in such a profound way.  I need to do this for myself!  Much love to you as you undertake this deeply personal journey.

This sounds like a very rewarding practice, Bright Opal. I'm happy for you that you've found you've found a way to access your inner self. We don't have to travel to the ends of the world, seeking out gurus, to find answers. Usually, the answers are already within us.

I received a Thoth tarot deck last month as a Christmas gift, and I've been familiarizing myself with it by practicing the "Tarot card-for-the-day" exercise Jeanne writes about in one of her articles. Eventually, I'll move on to something more involved, like what you're doing.
