Anyone here do readings with playing cards? Also known as "cartomancy"?
Â
I've started using guides to help me do readings with both playing cards and tarot cards (I own both).
Â
The playing cards actually compare to the Minor Arcana. You have your Kings (represents men), Queens (represents women), and Jacks which are a combo of the Knights and Pages (represents youth).
Â
♤The Spades compare to The Swords and represent "Overcoming Obstacles".
♧The Clubs compare to The Wands and represent "Hardwork" and "Powers of the Mind"
♡The Hearts compare to The Cups and represent "Powerful Emotions"
â—‡The Diamonds compare to The Pentacles/Coins and represent "Material Wealth".
Â
The Joker can also be compared to The Fool, but some readers choose to disgard this card from the deck (I prefer to use it).
Â
I find it fascinating that something commonly thought of as a game for gambling can also be used for divination. :)Â
Â
I have used playing cards. Â They are great for giving readings. I don't feel they mean the same things you have stated they mean, but to each his own. Â Go for the meaning that comes to you rather than what a book says.Â
I feel that both tarot cards and playing cards are open for the interpretation of the the reader, because every guide I have read says something different about the meanings of the cards. :)
Hi Grayson. I dabbled in the tarot a number of years ago, but it was a little scary, with majors like Death, Judgment, the Tower, etc. Â Then I found Robert Campbell's system using playing cards, which gave me good insight into my own interpersonal relationships and life cycle influences. But after using them for about 15 years, I felt something was missing in the readings. I'm now studying tarot again.

Hey Grayson!
Every now and then I'll do a reading with playing cards. I've tried traditional tarot cards, but I can never connect with them for some reason.
Anyway, I did a mini-reading back in December 2019 for the complete decade of the 2020s. It was only a three card reading, but the cards I pulled kind of disturbed me.
The cards were: 5 of Hearts, 9 of Spades, and 10 of Spades.
Based on how I learned, the 5 of Hearts represents feminine energy and doing the right, honest thing. 9 of Spades represents sadness, illnesses, grief and disappointments. 10 of Spades represents the worst of the worst with tragedy and all around darkness.
I performed the same reading a month later in January 2020 and I still pulled the same cards. Kind of spooky if you ask me.
I don't know what I'm being told, especially with the 5 of Hearts which is considered a pretty positive card.
Will there be a problem arising that will greatly and negatively affect women? Truth and justice? Will something tragic happen since 9 of Spades and 10 of Spades carry so much weight?
I'll just have to wait and see, but I'm open to other interpretations.
