Curious if anyone can get anything from our pup Sammie.. aka monster. Thanks in advance ♥️
Hey all - I’d like to introduce you to a little guy we’re calling Boone. He’s coming home to us next Wednesday. My wife and I hope to train him as a therapy dog. He’s a Bernese Mountain Doodle (Bernedoodle)
I get a completely gentle chill aura from him - (not just from this pic from a video but overall) looking forward to getting to know him and for him to get to know our Oliver and our cats. Anyone got a read on our new boy?
@dannyboy. He's a major cuddler. I'd like a chance to read him again when his eyes are open and he's a bit older but for now, I see him pressing his sweet warm cuddle body against people to let them know gently that he is there for them. What a cutie.
@jeanne-mayell We're going to see him on Monday - I have other pictures of him but they're the breeder's and they're watermarked with the name they're using for each puppy. Stay tuned :-) (I am SO excited even though we've never roomed with two dogs before. I say it this way because we don't "own" our pets, they're furry roommates 🤣!)
So here's a pic of Boone from our visit today. He's having eye surgery tomorrow - he has entropion which is somewhat common in bernedoodles - basically his eyelids are folding inwards and he'll have some tacking surgery done tomorrow which should correct it. (Our vet says this surgery often does correct it completely, but a small number of dogs will need to have a more permanent version of it when they're over a year if it recurs. We'll watch it. Anyway, he has that tomorrow morning and then I'll pick him up at noon on Wednesday.
So - pictures with both eyes open right now were tough because he has a lot of hair! And his eyes are runny. But this is him with my wife.
When you pick him up he just melts. He rested his head on my shoulder and I just held him and snuggled for long minutes at a time. He's the least adventurous of his littermates, which we also like. He is a big ball of fluff. He's what's known as a mini but they think he's going to be 60-80 pounds by the time he's fully grown - nothing mini there - that's about the size of our chocolate lab!
Y'all, I'm in love!
@dannyboy to say Boone is adorable is an understatement, what a sweet boy! I hope his surgery went smoothly. My parents have an Aussiedoodle that is an emotional support animal, and it sounds like Boone acts the same way, just the meltiest lovebug ever.
Anyways, I decided to finally post a picture of my boy Amos, he'll be 3yrs in October. I won't say anything about him, I'm curious about what people see in him.
Amos is an adorable fur ball@avon. I sense he is full of energy, inquisitive and fun to have around but also here to help his humans. My first impression of him as soon as I saw his photo was that he is here as an animal empath with the purpose of helping his humans cope with whatever stress happens in their lives. It’s like he has a very well developed stress depicting radar, ready and available to whomever needs love! I feel he would make a good support dog or companion for an older couple or someone with PTSD or related issues. Despite having grown up with dogs, I must admit that I am partial to cats and have a much easier time reading the kitties on this site. Dogs are much more difficult for me. But Amos is the first dog I have seen who’s energy attracted me to attempt to read him. Regardless, he’s a cutie.
@seaholly thank you, yes he is a furry ball of energy! Loves to play, but he's also a good lap dog. We laugh that we're each other's support animal because he's quite the scaredy cat and will come running for protection from any unknown noise. He's a great comfort though, loves to give kisses and be close to his humans at all times.
Since you're better at cats, here's one of my other furballs, Gus, he's about 7yrs old. I took him in after he was found at a storage facility at about 10-12 weeks old.

He's gorgeous and he's wise. That's all I've got. :-)
@avon Gus - he is tentative but a lover (at least to you and your immediates)
Whatever happened to him before you found him is still there with him and it comes out sometimes in the strangest ways. (I don't have more than that)
There is a deep kindness in his eyes though.
Gus is a beautiful, loving fur ball@avon. My first impression looking at him is that there is a trust issue with him, making him question things and humans at times. This would make sense if he was found at 10-12 weeks old. If feel that he is an old soul; he knows a lot in a kitty sense and is quite intelligent and “aware” for a cat. All he wants is to be loved. He is very comfortable with his human family and spreads love all around, perhaps in eccentric ways. Does he head butt his humans or has other types of cute or peculiar behaviours? He seems to like sleeping in the sun somewhere quiet. I see him being very comfortable, rolled into a ball. He is enjoying his life and loves his home.
Wow, you guys are good! Gus is definitely a loving boy, he loves to cuddle and he's a shoulder cat. He loves lounging on my shoulders like a scarf while I walk around giving him head scratches. He's a one-person cat, even though there are others in the house, he acts like they're dangerous a lot of times and runs off if they approach him. I give him lots of "slow blinks" and nose boops, so he gets his fill of attention, but he's a skittish boy. I attribute that to his street kitten days.
I do think he's an old soul, he's very calm, but startles easy. He loves to sit in front of the window and just watch the world outside or curl up in a sunny spot. I've often wondered if he's a reincarnation of a previous cat in my life, but who knows. He came into my life after I lost my 17yr old cat, so sometimes I think she sent him to me.
Ok, since you seem to have hit the nail on the head with Gus, I'll leave you with my last furkid. This is Oscar, he's the same age as Gus, 7yrs old. He came to me from a family friend as a scrawny kitten, his mama was a neighborhood stray.
This is what I sensed when I first saw Oscar’s photo@avon. I saw a sadness in him about his past probably stemming from his difficult start in life. He can be somewhat apprehensive at times but is really a love machine. I see him purring contentedly in the sun or in a cozy spot. When he purrs, he is spreading his love around to his humans and home environment. I get that he likes watching birds or things moving outside, like leaves in the breeze. He is grateful for the life he has, is comfortable with his home and happy to just lay around being lazy. He also likes to keep clean. A well groomed fur seems important to him. It’s as if he knows he’s beautiful and wants to keep it that way. When I first looked at his face, I saw a mini cougar but a gentle and kind one. There’s a domesticated “wild side” to him that may show up occasionally.
@Avon. oh Oscar sweetie… why so sad? It’s like he can’t quite believe he’s loved and safe. When I asked what might help… it felt like a daily routine greeting just for him might break through… “hey Oscar have a good day buddy… we love you, you fuzzy beautiful worry wort…” An unmistakable loving tease all for him…
@tonyaw Based on a previous photo, I got that he's still unsure of where he is. He's wondering why he's not Number One and hasn't figured out that there's plenty of love to go around. Cats seem to be new to him. Were there no cats in his original home? He's still unsure of "what" they are so attacking them is a way of trying to figure out what they are. There's someone's bed that he likes though, being in the middle of it. He likes the smell of it as well as the perspective it gives him.
I love your thoughts!!
So here's about Oscar, he loves to cuddle and is a "love machine", he loves boxes or anything he can climb into, and laundry baskets with fresh warm laundry are his ultimate "kid at Disneyland" dream bed. He's a bit of a bully towards Gus, he'll steal his spot a lot of times, not sure if it's jealousy or he just wants the warm spot Gus created for him. Honestly, I think he just loves a warm spot to lay. He's not much of a purrer though, sometimes I'll hear his motor going, but it's soft and I basically have to have my ear up to him to hear it. He's also super clumsy, and doesn't have a graceful bone in his body.
@freya @seaholly his eyes definitely give off a sad vibe, he's had "sad eyes" since he was a baby. I'll post his baby pic, with his sad kitten eyes, lol. He's such a brat though, he has the funniest personality sometimes and makes me laugh.
The lady I got him from originally was going to keep him and his sister but decided to just keep the sister and gave him to me instead. He and Gus have been together all 7yrs I've had them since they were roughly 10 weeks old. But they're not littermates and are a lot different personality-wise. I like to say it's Oscar's house, we're just living in it, he bosses all the other animals around.
