i read a couple WA PO articles this morning that show positive influence is out there. Here they are:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/i-wanted-to-understand-why-racists-hated-me-so-i-befriended-klansmen/2017/09/29/c2f46cb8-a3af-11e7-b14f-f41773cd5a14_story.html?hpid=hp_no-name_opinion-card-e%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.3c3218daf83b

And an op ed about what NFL players are doing to effect change beyond kneeling:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/what-protesting-nfl-players-like-me-want-to-do-next/2017/09/30/507fc4b0-a513-11e7-b14f-f41773cd5a14_story.html?hpid=hp_no-name_opinion-card-a%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.dab9129364cf

You may have tu cut and paste the links as I'm not sure if they'll work as I'm not sure how to get a link posted properly

Two sources of articles on positive changes:

Yes Magazine - http://www.yesmagazine.org/

Then there's Transition Towns, places already preparing for an altered future.

This is the best!  Thanks for starting this. Washington Post has a special section called The Optimist, which is uplifting.

Lauri, that article about the black musician who befriended Klansmen made me feel so good.  Thank you.

Yes,the article was just what I needed at the time.  I don’t remember what stupidity was going on at the time with the circus in DC, but that article lightened my heart when I was getting discouraged about where we are headed.  This site also keeps my heart full of hope and I remind myself regularly that, this too shall pass.

Looking through a back issue of the Optimist, I found this article that renews me. In a letter from Hillary Clinton to a life long Republican woman who took part in the Women's March in February, Clinton wrote: "Never forget that you are powerful and valuable, and that one person can make a difference."   It reminded me of the great Margaret Mead's: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

It's tough out there right now. But we are strong. And the forces of love and of  life will always assert themselves and win.
