Because the floaters were worse last week, I called the doctor’s office. The tech wrote messages to give to the doctor. They are concerned if there are more floaters and if the sight out of my damaged eye is jagged, which it’s not. Either way, I have an appt on a Jan 28th. I read that the floaters are in the vitreous gel. So, I’m not being told I have a macular hole. But I’ve read that removing the gel gets rid of the floaters. But then I’d have to keep my face down for 3 days? And would the gel return in those 3 days or would there be a partial detachment all over again?

@anita, Yes, removing the gel gets rid of the floaters.  That's why mine were eliminated.  I was in the face-down position because they inserted a gas bubble that created a seal over the macular hole.  That position was to ensure that the seal remained stable.   When they remove the gel, they sometimes insert a  liquid to temporarily replace it.  I think it all depends on the type of surgery you have.  I don't know how long it takes for the new gel to form.  I don't know how they handle partial detachments, so I couldn't say about the 3-day, face-down position in your case.   I just wouldn't worry about it now.  You'll be getting some answers very soon.

I have SAD and recurring severe depression.  So I feel your pain.  all the suggestions are great one.  You have to do what works for you.

Recently a good friend of mine suggestion Dialectical Behavioral THerapy (DBT)  In my area we have a non-profit organization that has this program.  It is a 12-week live-in intensive program.  I did it twice because the first time I was so out of it that I didn't get everything I could from it.  Still, both times I felt it was a life changing event.  Apparently in the US there could be local organizations offering the same sevice although not on a 12 week program like what I had.  There is one thing though, you need to keep up with the exercises.  And from time to tme you need to return to a therapy group setting.

In order to help with my emotions, or the way I feel about an event, I use a Bullet Journal.  I write a lot, or draw about things that have happened throught out the day/week.  It's bassically a notebook you use as a planner, organizer, diary etc.  It is what you make it.

Earlier I was coloring in my joural.  I woke up 3 hours later with the pen in my hand and I chuckled.  I find coloring, quilling oragami all mindless tasks help me relax, so much so I fall asleep

I have also undersaken a mindful tarot exercise where I look at the tarot cards to better understand them and refer to my life.  For example, I used the world card and asked myself the question about all my life cycles/phases what I had completed and what needed completion.  That card alone was amazing in self dicoveries and also admissions to myself.

I also do lumino therapy and it works wonders!  I hope this helps.  You need to find what works fir you.  I wish you good luck, send you love and light to help you in your difficult journey.

PS:  Having a good control on you sugar level is very important as it affects or mood a great deal.  All synthetic sugar = bad.  Still you need to have an intake of natural sugar from fruits and veggies.  For me, it can be a make or break in my day.

Hi Anita, I have eye floaters (not as bad as yours). Besides time (you get used to some of them) I started taking an eye supplement every day that contains Lutein. I also stumbled on MSM eye drops on Amazon that many folks wrote in saying it helped them with eye floaters. So I started using them too and also Similasan Complete Eye Relief eye drops (homeopathic). I've actually noticed my floaters are much much better. I would advise you to talk to your eye doctor before taking anything of course, but if he thinks it's ok I would check it out.  Hoping you get some good answers soon!

Thanks. I asked about the lutein, but he said it wasn’t for my problem. I am taking bilberry. I will ask about the Similasan. Thank you so much.
