Booted out of edit window by my very slow mobile editing, here is the link I meant to get into post above:

http://naiaonline.org/blog/animal-policy/irresponsible-dog-importation-and-illness-an-expert-speaks-out/#.XHKzUaOIYr0

This link and its comments from others is years old but further points out that the veterinary community was becoming awarhue of the intrinsic dangers of uncontrolled or monitored foreign pet rescues from many, not just China, countries and the problems in the canine populations but its still only being talked about by those willing to educate but trying not to strike fear into the populace or let's face it, drastic PETA recations to what us commonly viewed as humanitarian efforts to save animal lives from countless countries that have far different cultural views.

We truly need to see the forest here, and not just the trees..or as Unk p shared, the deer crossing the road in the forest.

It has been awhile since I've posted, and have missed the forum here. I've been caught up in the political chaos and I suppose my energy was needed there, but as we all know it's an enormous (drain?) and I have to constantly repeat this mantra, 'I am the Light, not the adversity'... Spirit moves in mysterious ways ;) the

I had a dream-state vision that I want to share...

I saw the ancient eye of an elephant, and then the beautiful kind eye of a horse, then the deep midnight blue eye of a whale... and they were all telling me that we must listen to them now, for we are truly at the 'tipping point' in destroying our Earth and the species decimation that is happening now and into the future will be apocalyptic.

The last bird will be plucked from the sky to be consumed, the last living thing from the sea, the last being that we share our world with will be devoured, and the human species will not survive.

The eyes of these beautiful animals were profoundly sad, and although this may be a vision of the distant future, it is a distinct warning that is coming through now, in the present, today.

It was, needless to say, a little bit stunning (lol), and I was left shaken up for a couple of days. Hope that didn't ruin anyone's day, but I felt like I should post it...

Here is a beautiful piece by Henry Beston that may bring some inspiration...with love

We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals...

We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves.

And therein we err, and greatly err.

For the animal shall not be measured by man.

In a world older and more complete than ours, they moved finished and complete,

Gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost, or never attained.

Living by voices we shall never hear, they are not brethren, they are not underlings.

They are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time...

Thank you for sharing this. What a beautiful and sad vision.

I have been vegan since 2015 and it seems that the longer I don't eat animal products, the more empathetic to animals I become until it's nearly painful. I recently read "Uninhabitable Earth", which is a very stark look at climate change. We are currently losing species at 1000 to 10,000 times the "background rate", or what would naturally occur if humans were not around. ( https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/programs/biodiversity/elements_of_biodiversity/extinction_crisis/)   With the outlook for climate change, many more will be at peril.

Sometimes when I think about what we've done to animals throughout history, I don't think we, as a species, deserve to survive. And yet, humans are capable of so much love and stewardship also. Look at the people working to save animals in so many different non-profits. I hope we get the chance to become, as a whole, as compassionate and protective as the very best of us are now. But it's hard to imagine sometimes.

Thank you JH, it is truly devastating to see the rate of extinction, and happening everyday now literally somewhere on the globe. The CBD estimates that up to fifty percent of All species on Earth (Flora and Fauna) could be gone in the next thirty years...

We must choose our battles wisely, as the sage once said, and I feel that it will be possible to turn it around but only in the event of a mass awakening, and as history has shown us, we humans are stubborn creatures (lol) who don't want to lose that safety of our complacency, or illusions.

The most important battle to me has been, and is now more critical than ever, the decimation of our Wild Horses, who are facing extinction because of the enormous corruption in the BLM, and the Dept of Interior policies of destroying our wild lands in favor of the huge push for privatizing and grabbing everything for big oil, mining, extraction (fracking), and cattle production leases. It's not just climate change, but the insidious greed and insanity of the political climate in the last two + years.

Today the confirmation of David Bernhardt as head of the DOI could happen... one of the regime's major henchman in rolling back protections for any and all wildlife in the way... what is at further risk, is precious life, and vital waterways.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up on a debuting new docuseries coming on Friday, April 5... (Netflix)

It is a stunning documentary, 'OUR PLANET', and chronicles globally the impact that climate change is having on Earth's wild places and species, endangered and more.

'The way things are now, not the way they were'. It has a trailer available to view, and I feel the series will be really important. It is beautifully done in the genre of 'Blue Planet', but with a huge and poignant difference.
